Your privacy

CL Pro Search does its work on your own computer. The part of it that runs on listing pages never contacts Cool Apps LLC. Your searches, your browsing, the listings you look at, the notes you write and the listings you save are not sent to us, in any form, ever.
Buying a license is the only thing that gives us personal information about you: the email address you buy with, which reaches us from the payment page. We do not sell your information.

What stays on your computer
- The notes you write, held in Chrome’s own extension storage on your computer.
- The listings you save, written to your Downloads folder in a folder named CLProSearch. We never see them, never receive them, and have no way to ask for them.
- The Viewed, Note and Saved markers in your search results.
- The count of your free allowance: a short list of hashed search identifiers, a fingerprint of each search rather than the search itself, and a count of the listings you have noted and saved.
One qualification. The short list of hashed search identifiers is held in Chrome’s own synced extension storage. If you are signed into Chrome with sync switched on, Chrome copies that storage between your own devices, so your count of free searches follows you from one machine to another. The copying is done by Chrome, between computers you own, and we are not a party to it. The list holds at most six hashed identifiers for search pages you deduplicated. It is not a browsing history, and removing the extension deletes it, on every machine.
The only network requests the extension makes
- When you click Save or Update Listing, it asks that listing’s own site for the listing’s photographs, so the saved file holds real pictures rather than links that stop working. Those requests go to the site you are saving from, carry no cookies, and happen only at the moment you press Save.
- The toolbar popup checks that a license is valid, roughly once a week, quietly, when you open it. It sends your license key and an install ID — a random identifier your copy of the extension generates for itself, whose only job is to let a license be used on up to five installations at once. Nothing about which pages you visited, which searches you ran, or which listings you saw is attached to it.
When you buy a license
Checkout happens on a payment page in a separate tab, and that page is where your email address comes from — you never type it into the extension. We use it to send your license key, to warn you before a one-year license expires, to let you recover a lost key, and — only if you tell us yes — to send occasional product news. Every product news message carries an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing has no effect on your license.
We do not ask for or receive your name. Payments are handled by Link as merchant of record; no card details reach the extension or us at any point. Link keeps its own records of your purchase, separate from ours, which we do not control and cannot delete.
The thank-you page after checkout, and the license check, also cause our server to record a shortened and hashed form of your IP address for a short period. It exists only to stop one connection flooding the service, and it is not used to identify you or to work out where you are.
What we do not collect
- No account, login or password
- No browsing history, search terms, or record of the listings you viewed, noted or saved
- No copy of any listing you save
- No location data
- No analytics or tracking scripts inside the extension
- No card numbers, and no payment details of any kind
- No name or postal address
Your rights, and deleting your information
Anyone can ask to know what we hold about them, get a copy, correct it, delete it, or withdraw consent to marketing email, wherever they live. Write to support@coolapps.llc; we respond within 30 days and usually much sooner.
If you ask us to delete your information, your license survives: the key keeps working, and a 1-year license runs to its normal expiry date. But once your email address is gone we can no longer look your key up or email it to you again, so save your key somewhere safe before you ask. The deletion does not reach Link’s records; contact Link directly about those.
Vehicle history reports
The Check Vehicle History button opens Detailed Vehicle History through an affiliate link. Once you follow it, their privacy policy governs what happens there. We do not receive your name, payment details or the contents of any report you buy; we receive only a count of purchases attributed to our link.
This website
The extension sets no cookies. This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics. If you switch the site between light and dark, your choice is remembered in your own browser’s local storage and never leaves your computer. The site loads its typefaces from Google Fonts, which means Google receives your IP address as part of that request.
