Getting started with CL Pro Search

Install CL Pro Search from the Chrome Web Store, pin it to your address bar, then open any listing on craigslist, AutoTrader, CarGurus, Cars.com or Classics on Autotrader. A My Notes button appears in the bottom-right corner of the listing page, and that is where you write notes and save the listing.
To hide duplicate ads on craigslist, open a craigslist search, click the CL Pro Search icon beside your address bar, and click Deduplicate Listings. No account or sign-up is needed to try it.
Install it
- Open CL Pro Search in the Chrome Web Store and click Add to Chrome.
- Confirm when Chrome asks.
- Pin it beside the address bar. Click the puzzle-piece Extensions icon at the right end of the address bar, then click the pin beside CL Pro Search. Its icon then stays in view, one click away whenever you want to hide duplicates on a craigslist search or enter your license key.

Hiding duplicates works in every craigslist category, not just cars and real estate. Saved used-vehicle listings also get a Check Vehicle History button, whichever site they came from.
Four things to try first
- Write a note. Open a listing and click My Notes. Type what the ad doesn’t say — the seller’s name, the number you called, what you talked about — and click Save Note. The note stays attached to that listing. More about notes.
- Save the listing. In the same panel, click Save or Update Listing. A complete copy of the ad, with up to 100 photos, the price, the description, the seller’s details and your note, is saved as one file in your Downloads folder, in a folder named CLProSearch. Show Saved Listings opens the list of everything you have saved. More about saving.
- Go back to your search results. Listings you have opened, noted or saved now carry a Viewed, Note or Saved marker, so you won’t open the same ad twice unless you want to. More about the markers.
- Hide duplicates on craigslist. Open a craigslist search, click the CL Pro Search icon and click Deduplicate Listings. Reposts of the same ad collapse into a single result, and you are told how many were hidden. Show all listings again brings them all back. On housing searches the page scrolls through the results once by itself to read the photos, then returns you to the top. More about deduplication.
What’s free
CL Pro Search is free to try: a single allowance covers 5 saved listings, 10 noted listings and 5 craigslist deduplications, and reaching any one of them ends the free period for all three. After that, continuing requires a license — $9.99 USD for one year, or $19.99 USD for the lifetime of the product. Reaching the limit never takes away work you have already done: listings you saved stay on your computer and notes you wrote stay readable. More about the free allowance.

Your notes, your saved listings and the record of the ads you have looked at stay on your own computer. The part of the extension that runs on listing pages never contacts Cool Apps LLC. More about your privacy.
